Website Design F.A.Q’s

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the web development process work?
Building a website is a lot like building a house. There are multiple, well-defined steps. Here’s how our website development process works:
  • Discovery. What media and assets do you currently have for your new site? What’s missing and still needs to be gathered or created?

  • Design. In the design phase we draft the blueprint (i.e. mockup) for your new website so you can see what it will look like before it’s actually built. This is where you request changes or modifications to your site's design.

  • Develop. At this point your work is done. We now take the blueprint from the previous step and actually develop and code your site.

  • Launch. Once your site is built and thoroughly tested, it’s time to go live on the internet.

Start to finish, our website projects typically take 15-30 days. If it takes longer than this, it’s usually due to a delay in our client getting us the media (ad copy, images, videos, etc) we need to build their site.
What exactly does responsive web design mean?
A responsive website means that it “responds” and automatically adapts to the size of the device it’s being viewed on. Specifically, that means a responsive site is easy to read and navigate whether you’re viewing it on a desktop, tablet or phone.
Why is it so important to have a good website?
Two words – trust and credibility. If you want colleagues and prospective clients to take you seriously, you need a modern, professional website. In addition, if you want to use any type of digital advertising or marketing to promote your business online, you’re going to need a good website.
Why do I need a mobile responsive website?
Having a website that’s not mobile responsive (i.e. mobile-friendly) is one of the quickest ways to make people feel you’re behind the times and out of touch. It’s all about perception.
  • A 2016 report from comScore shows that 75% of all digital media time is spent on mobile and 25% on desktop.

  • In late 2016 the mobile tipping point was reached, meaning mobile/tablet internet usage overtook desktop usage for the first time worldwide.

A mobile-ready website is no longer “a nice thing to have”. People now expect to have a good experience when visiting your website on their phone.
Will my website design be search-engine friendly?
All our websites are created with search engines in mind, and all designs are compliant with search engine guidelines. It is a good idea for your website to be re-evaluated from time to time as search engines do alter their rules and algorithms. This will ensure that your site is up to date and compliant with new rules.
I run a small business and want an online presence to promote my business. What's the first step?
You need a domain name, a web server and a professionally developed website. You also need the website to be uploaded to your host and promoted to all major search engines to get indexed. Scaiffe Solutions can help you with all aspects of getting a website up and running.

Digital Marketing F.A.Q’s

Frequently Asked Questions

What is website conversion rate?
Website conversion rate is a critically important metric used to measure and improve website performance. It is typically calculated by dividing the number of defined conversions by the number of visits to your website (expressed as a percentage). In some industries, and depending on what you're actually trying to measure/improve, it might be calculated using a segment of visits (vs. all visits). For example, a local plumber serving Nairobi might have a 4% conversion rate when using all visits, but a 14% conversion rate when visits are segmented to only calculate the number using visits in Nairobi--after all, can the local plumber really expect a visitor from China to convert? Not likely.
How to Track SEO Rankings with Google Analytics
If you want to track your organic rankings in Google, there are a number of commercially available SEO tools that will get the job done. However, few people realize that you can use Google Analytics to track your SEO rankings. Not only can you customize Google Analytics to show your keyword rankings alongside the rest of your data, unlike other tools, Google Analytics is an excpetional bargain at the low, low price of FREE!! Read on for the step-by-step setup guide.
What is a conversion?
Web marketing people love to create new terms for things you thought you already understood! In the world of Internet marketing, the word "conversion" represents any action on your website that is more valuable than someone that visits your site and leaves without doing anything. What constitutes a conversion depends entirely on the industry and on the individual company. For most companies, it's a web form submission (aka. a lead). Other terms that are interchangeable with "conversion" include: goal, upper funnel action, lower funnel action, lead, action, and event (I'm sure there are dozens of others, but you get the point).
How much does SEO and Digital Marketing cost?
One of the most common questions we get - particularly from small business owners - is, "what does SEO cost?" Scaiffe Solutions' SEO process starts with a website audit - an ongoing SEO campaign may or may not follow (ongoing SEO occurs approximately 85 percent of the time). Website audits are customized for individual businesses, so the prices vary, but the typical range is Ksh. 35,000 - Ksh. 50,000 (audits for larger "enterprise" websites can be considerably more). Ongoing SEO ranges from consulting to "do it for me" SEO services where Scaiffe Solutions' team acts like your own in-house SEO department (for a fraction of the cost of having your own SEO team). Ongoing SEO ranges from Ksh. 25,000 per month on the low end to Ksh. 85,000 (or more) per month on the high end.
